TAFS Forum Guidelines for FMD Vaccine Selection and Verification

The global FMD situation is changing fast. New outbreaks continue to emerge, virus strains are circulating beyond their classical endemic areas, and the disease is spreading into regions that have been FMD-free for decades. These developments place growing pressure on livestock production, food security, trade, and the livelihoods of millions of people. Against this backdrop, choosing a high-quality, fit-for-purpose vaccine is one of the most consequential decisions in FMD control.

Over the many years of TAFS activities related to FMD control, a consistent message has emerged: stakeholders across sectors, regions, and roles require accessible, practical, and evidence-based guidance to support the selection and evaluation of high-quality, fit-for-purpose FMD vaccines.

In response to this need, we have developed the TAFS Guidelines for FMD Vaccine Selection & Verification. You can find out more in the FMD Section
